Please read this entire column for additional information BEFORE selecting your number of girl and/or adult participants in the right-hand column on the registration page.

Hosted by Brunswick County Service Unit volunteers, this event will encourage you to get out and explore and enjoy all Lake Waccamaw State Park has to offer.

This is a rain or shine event, so please dress accordingly for the weather and don't forget your bug spray, sunscreen, and maybe a raincoat. Closed-toe, sturdy walking shoes are highly recommended. A full, reusable, water bottle is also recommended for you to stay hydrated as you explore the park.

During this two-hour event, Girl Scouts will complete steps towards badge work appropriate to their Girl Scouting level, earn the Girl Scouts Love State Parks fun patch, complete steps in the Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors challenge, and become NC State Parks Junior Rangers. New this year, as we continue to celebrate USA's 250th Anniversary (which is also the NC State Parks' theme), there will be opportunities to learn about our the Bald Eagle and how we can protect and preserve our state parks and surrounding areas for the next 250 years. We will also be joined by the Lake Waccamaw Park Ranger, as well as some area organizations.

When arriving at Lake Waccamaw, follow the signs along the state park road to direct you to the event site for check-in. There is limited parking, so carpooling is encouraged. (The paved run that runs through the park ends at the parking and picnic area, this is where check-in will take place.)

Adult Supervision: Individual girls attending events must have an adult registered to attend the event with them.  If 3 or more girls from the same troop are attending an event, then it is considered a troop event and the number of adults registered to attend should meet the safety ratio in Safety Activity Checkpoints.  Any adult attending an overnight event must be a registered Girl Scout member with a completed background check on file.

Event Confirmation Packet/Details:  All the details that you need to attend this event can be found in the event confirmation packet.  Once it is finalized, you will see it when you go to the My Events page of your My GS account and select the event from the list.  All registered participants will also receive a copy via email closer to the event date and after registration closes for the event.  Please review the packet at least several days prior to the event so you will have time to adequately prepare for the event and to ask questions, if needed.

No need to leave right after the event, bring a picnic lunch and enjoy exploring the trails or sitting on the pier over the lake, or take a walk through the visitor's center.
