Volunteer-Led Troop Experience

Guided by a trained Girl Scout volunteer, schools provide a safe space on school property for groups of Girl Scouts (called troops) to meet and explore Girl Scout programming throughout the school year.

Staff-Led, In-School Experience

Guided by a trusted school staff member, Girl Scouts explore standards-aligned programming that’s integrated during the school day or as an after-school activity. We provide your staff member with training on Girl Scout programming.

Custom Troop Experience

A customized, program-focused troop experience that allows your school to adapt Girl Scout programming to meet your students’ needs. Activities can be held throughout the year, either during or after school, and are led by a trained Girl Scout mentor or staff member.

Short-Term Experiences

A one-time Girl Scout–sponsored program led by trained Girl Scout volunteers at your school to benefit your students (e.g., a kindergarten-readiness event, family STEM night, etc.).

How do Girl Scout badges support state and national curriculum standards? toggle arrow

The content of all Girl Scout national proficiency badges and journeys have been correlated by grade level to national Common Core Standards, 21st Century Skills standards, Financial Literacy education standards, and curriculum such as Health and PE, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies learning objectives for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The Common Core Standards, developed and approved in 2010 by a bipartisan group of governors and educators, provide a shared framework for learning and teaching objectives specifically for English Language Arts and Mathematics for most US students. The 21st Century Skills standards focuses on blending subject-skills with life and career skills; information, media, and technology skills; and other key skills necessary to develop multidimensional abilities to succeed in the new century. Financial Literacy standards correlate to national personal finance education.

In girl-only spaces, girls feel free to talk about issues they wouldn’t necessarily talk about with boys, try out new activities without a fear of failure, and experience less pressure to look or act a certain way.
