Military Families

For families on the move, Girl Scouts is a constant, allowing her to pick up right where she left off: benefitting from the single best leadership development experience for girls in the world.

At Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, we value the service of our military families and are here to support our members with meaningful experiences as we work together to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

Across town or around the world, your Girl Scout membership follows you wherever you go.

If you don’t have a new address, use GSUSA’s Council Finder to search for contact information for your new council. They will put you in touch with a Girl Scout representative in the general area where you will be moving.

If you have a new address or even just a zip code where you’ll be moving, sign in to your My GS account to find a troop in your new area.

· From the My Household page, select Change my participation next to your member’s name.

· In the pop-up window, verify the information in the boxes and select the Next button.

· On the next page, change the zip code to the zip code for your new area. Select the appropriate membership year when you will start attending meetings. Then, scroll to the bottom and select the Search button.

· When you find a troop that works for your schedule, click on the Join This Troop button.

· It may take a couple of days for the system to update, but please use GSUSA’s Council Finder to reach out to your new council for assistance if the account does not update within a few days.

The My Household page is also where you will change your address once you have one. Select Edit Profile next to each person in your household who is moving to update their address.

Volunteering with Girl Scouts is a great way to share the Girl Scout Leadership Experience with your family. There are lots of ways to volunteer!

Just like membership, your achievements in gsLearn (our volunteer training platform) follow you to each new council. Please note that each council has their own training requirements for volunteers and there may be some additional courses that you will need to take or some that may not apply to your new role in your new council. Please reach out to the training coordinator at your new council if you have any questions.

At Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines, we want to ensure that you receive the support and assistance you need.
