Event Description:
This is a rain or shine event hosted by the local New Hanover County Service Unit volunteers to encourage NCCP Girl Scouts to explore and play in their local NC State Park.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and don't forget your bug spray and sunscreen. Sturdy shoes for walking trails and a rain coat or poncho are also suggested. Don't forget your full reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
Only registered Girl Scout attendees will be able to participate in event activities. No siblings or "tagalongs" please.
During the two hour event Girl Scouts will complete national proficiency badge work appropriate to their Girl Scouting level, earn the annual Girl Scouts Love State Parks fun patch, complete steps in the Girl Scouts Love the Outdoors event, learn about becoming an official North Carolina State Park Junior Ranger, and more! We will also be joined by a real NC State Park Ranger and other park staff as well as other community organizations.
Feel free to pack a picnic for afterwards, bring your binoculars for bird watching, take a hike on the carnivorous plant trail, or plan to explore the park as you'd like after visiting the stations and areas during the event.
The event base will be at the Picnic Area. Please follow park and GS signs along the main road to find it. Carpooling is highly recommended due to parking constraints. Troops should ensure they meet Safety Activity Ratios.

Registration Dates: May 1, 2026 - September 4, 2026,
Adult Supervision: Individual girls attending events must have an adult registered to attend the event with them. If 3 or more girls from the same troop are attending an event, then it is considered a troop event and the number of adults registered to attend should meet the safety ratio in Safety Activity Checkpoints. Any adult attending an overnight event must be a registered Girl Scout member with a completed background check on file.
Event Confirmation Packet/Details: All the details that you need to attend this event can be found in the event confirmation packet. Once it is finalized, you will see it when you go to the My Events page of your My GS account and select the event from the list. All registered participants will also receive a copy via email closer to the event date and after registration closes for the event. Please review the packet at least several days prior to the event so you will have time to adequately prepare for the event and to ask questions, if needed.
Cancellation Policy
For cancellations received by Monday, August 31, 2026 we will refund to the original method of payment.
For cancellations received between Tuesday, September 1, 2026 and Monday, September 14, 2026, we will refund to the original method of payment minus $3.00
In case of illness or family emergency, cancellations received by Friday, September 25, 2026 will be refunded to the original method of payment minus applicable cancellation fees and costs.
