The online portion of blended learning through the American Red Cross website features adaptive learning with video based interactive scenarios. The online session introduces participants to the knowledge-based aspects of First Aid/CPR/AED as well as the skills they will practice and master during the skills sessions. Participants may complete an optional pre-assessment for each lesson and may "test out" of a lesson which can reduce seat time.
The online session ranges from 25 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes, depending on the results of each module's pre-assessments. Participants must be able to print or email proof of completion to the instructor. Proof of course work can also be shown to the instructor using your cellphone. The link for the online course work will be immediately available upon registration in the Additional Documentation when you select the event on the My Events page in your MyGS account.
The instructor-led skills session is designed to transition participants from the virtual setting of the blended learning online course to the hands-on skills required to demonstrate competency for certification. Your electronic certificate will be emailed to you by the American Red Cross within 2 weeks after the successful completion of the instructor-led portion of this class.
Please keep in mind that no food or drink will be allowed to be
consumed in class. We ask that participants momentarily step out of
the room to consume any food or drink. Other classroom precautions
will be taken.
