Event Description: Join Girl Scouts of Pitt County at
Rum Runner Dive Shop in Winterville to try SCUBA diving and get savvy
about sharks!
After enjoying a presentation about sharks,
girls will have the opportunity to participate in 2 hours of Try
SCUBA, an introductory course designed to allow girls to try something
new, get firsthand SCUBA diving experience, breathe underwater, and
have fun with Rum Runner Dive Shop's NAUI certified instructors! The
Try SCUBA session will take place in an indoor pool.
$35
registration fee covers the session fee and a SCUBA diving
patch.
Note: Registration is also open
to adult members of Girl Scouts!
Troops are responsible
for ensuring that they meet their required Girl-to-Adult ratios.
Individually registered girls must attend with an adult volunteer. No
girls should be dropped off unless volunteers from their own troop are
present to supervise them. Girls should dress comfortably for the
classroom portion, and bring a swimsuit & towel for the SCUBA
portion. Girls should also bring a water bottle.
Per the
request of Rum Runner Dive Shop, the following guidelines must be followed:
- Girls must complete and return the attached Try SCUBA Waiver prior to the session.
- Girls must complete and return the attached NAUI Liability Release Form prior to the session.
Per the Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints, the following
guidelines must be followed:
- Girls must be 12 years old by the date of the session.
- Girls must be proficient swimmers in order to participate. A proficient swimmer must, in both shallow and deep water, be able to tread water for 2 minutes with their head above water, be able to swim 20 yards using front crawl or freestyle stroke without stopping, and be otherwise comfortable and confident in the water without a flotation device.
