Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines congratulates Troop #3623 from Ft. Bragg for their winning entry in Girl Scouts of the USA’s national Bling Your Booth contest.
The contest was open to Girl Scout troops across the country and challenged Girl Scouts to put their imaginations to work in support of the 2015 Girl Scout Cookie Sale. Troops had to come up with an original theme for their cookie sale booth and decorate it a creative way using posters, colors, lights, or other means to share their cookie selling goals and make their booth stand out from the crowd.
Calling their booth, “Cookie Land,” the troop decided to market their cookies as the best Super Bowl game day snack. The girls used posters, festive balloons, photos of their favorite cookies, colorful flower pots, and even made decorative candy out of balloons for their backdrop.
Their leader uploaded a photo of the troop at the booth to the Girl Scouts of the USA Facebook page where it faced tough competition from talented Girl Scouts throughout the country. The “Cookie Land” booth earned 36,266 votes through Facebook to become one of the $500 grand prize winners.
Troop leader May Grzeszak was thrilled when she received the winning news from GSUSA. “This troop just formed in January with five girls and we have grown to twenty,” she explained. “Girl Scouts gives our military children stability in an ever changing community, and it has been so exciting to see these girls develop such quick friendships while supporting our community.”
Grzeszak also shared that her Girl Scouts love exploring the outdoors and are excited to use their prize money for several summer adventures including nature scavenger hunts and a trip to the coast. “This summer we are planning to travel to Surf City and sea turtle hospital. As our Juniors plan and execute their Bronze award, our Daisies and Brownies will work on making bags to comfort and support kids in foster homes and shelters,” she said.
Girl Scout Troop #3623 is a multi-level troop (Daisies, grades K-1; Brownies, grade 2-3; and Juniors, grade 4-5), and is located in Fort Bragg, N.C.
