Girl Scout volunteer Matt S., from Harnett County, has become a master of multi-tasking. Balancing a full time-job, two kids, and a DJ business, Matt still manages to make time for other important roles in his life, such as serving as Co-Leader for his daughter's Girl Scout Troop.
Matt's dedication to Girl Scouting and providing his daughter with the best experience possible is admirable, which is why he's featured in this week's Volunteer Spotlight!
How did you first get involved with Girl Scouts?
I first became involved with Girl Scouts when I enrolled my daughter in a local troop.
What is the best part of being a Girl Scout Volunteer?
As a co-leader, I am able to provide skills and assistance to help the girls do and achieve things they may not otherwise be able to experience.
Why is volunteering with Girl Scouts important to you?
I believe Girl Scouts is a very good organization that does a world of good in the lives of the girls. And I am proud to be a small part of that.
How do you fit in volunteering with your schedule?
I have our regular meeting nights on reserve at all times and for other activities I make sure to plan in advance with my work schedule. Planning ahead is really helpful, although there are very few times where there is a schedule conflict. I've also been able to use my DJ business for Girl Scout events several times, which is great because I can combine two passions into one great experience.
