A R.E.A.L. Girl

Girl Scout Courtenay Wells featured in Justine Magazine!

“Girl Scouts has given me the confidence to be myself, the courage to try new things and the ability to give my all in anything and everything I do.”

This heartfelt statement above is one we hope to hear from all of our girl members.  Courtenay Wells is Girl Scout Ambassador from Troop 3249 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina whose passion for Girl Scouting has allowed her the opportunities to truly “reach for the stars.”  Courtenay, a senior at Northern Nash High School attributes her many successes to the Girl Scout Program.  Most recently, Courtenay was featured in Justine Magazine as a R.E.A.L. Girl semifinalist.  This honor acknowledged her achievements in community service, citizenship, and leadership—naming her a Remarkable, Energetic, and Aspirational Leader.
“I am making a difference in my community by volunteering once a month with the residents at a local nursing home, teaching arts and crafts, serving meals and helping with holiday activities.”
Courtenay has proven her leadership skills by serving as past President of Nash County’s Older Girl Advisory Board, which helps plan events for younger girls and guides them through their own Girl Scout experiences.  Outside of her commitments to Girl Scouts, Courtenay is a student athlete in her high school, has won numerous beauty titles and serves as a role model to younger girls and peers.
Courtenay has learned goal setting, independence and how to become a successful woman through the opportunities presented by the Girl Scout Program.  “I am most proud of how I’ve chosen to live my life” says Courtenay.  We are sure that these building blocks will enable Courtenay to continue her lifelong leadership journey, while upholding the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
