Lee County Girl Scouts Earn Program Aide Certification

Seven Girl Scouts from across Lee County have work diligently over the last few months to become Program Aide certified!

Jordan G., and Skyler G. of Troop #1276, Megan S. of Troop #1311, Leilah W. of Troop #737, and Victoria K., Joniah K., and Jasmine G. of Troop #676 have all participated in the Program Aide training held June 2013 and are recently completed the 25 hours of service needed to earn their certification! Cindy S., leader of Girl Scout Troop #1311, led the training and currently serves as the advisor for their Program Aide activites.

To receive certification as a Program Aide, girls complete four online training modules on the following topics:

  • Leadership
  • Understanding younger girls
  • Working with Girl Scout Journeys
  • Safety Standards

Girls must also participate in a 3-hour workshop and complete 25 hours of service. Finally, Girl Scouts completing this certification are required to have earned one Leader In Action award. This award is granted to Girl Scout Cadettes who have worked in a leadership capacity with Girl Scout Brownies to help them discover, and make the most, their Girl Scout experience.

These Girl Scouts plan to use their new skills as Program Aides to mentor and give back to younger girls in their community. We are so proud of our Girl Scouts who earn this certification and we can't wait to see all the amazing things you'll do! Congratulations!
