Got Questions? Get Answers!
Volunteer Services is here to help you! If you have a question, comment or suggestion about how we can best help you with your duties as an adult Girl Scout, please email council@nccoastalpines.org. We are here to help!
Girl Scout Week
March 8-12 is Girl Scout Week, and if you want help asking your mayor to proclaim it in your city or town, we have a 'kit' for you at http://www.nccoastalpines.org/home/advocacy/GS_week.aspx. You can find a sample letter, a sample proclamation - even a sample press release. It's a great way to get involved and find out more about your city government. Let us know if Girl Scout Week is proclaimed in your city by sending a copy of the proclamation to mwebb@nccoastalpines.org
Clarification - Our Relationship With Old Navy
We want to apologize for some misinformation about our relationship with Old Navy. Old Navy will (in partnership with GSUSA) develop and sell some uniquely designed Girl Scout T-shirts. However, they will not sell the same merchandise that is carried in Girl Scout shops. As part of this agreement, we had hoped that Old Navy would allow councils nationwide to conduct cookie booth sales at their stores. Unfortunately, this is not possible on a national level.

NEW! - Online Leadership Essentials - Need to take Leadership Essentials but can't find the time to attend a face-to-face training? Don't worry, we have a new option that will save you time and allow you to be trained! Please visit: http://training.girlscouts.org and you will be able to take GSUSA's brand new Online Leadership Essentials! That's right; you can take the class sitting in front of your computer in your PJs! It is in two parts (which includes the GSUSA Online Orientation- password required: discover), and both must be taken to complete the course. The online course takes approximately 1 hour and then the council has the ability to download your answers and review your responses to mark you as "trained"! Try it today! If you have questions/comments, please contact Robin Simonton at rsimonton@nccoastalpines.org or 919 600 6329.
Justine R.E.A.L. Girl Contest -This is the final stretch of Justine magazine's R.E.A.L. Girl Contest, so encourage your girls to apply and possibly win a feature story in the magazine and a trip. We hope the magazine gets so many submissions that this becomes a yearly contest. Girl Scouts everywhere are encouraged to tell the world how they are Remarkable, Energetic, Aspirational Leaders by entering the contest. The contest is open only to Girl Scouts aged 13-19, who are working to make the world a better place in their local communities and beyond. The winner will be featured in an article in Justine telling all about her activities as the R.E.A.L. Girl, and she will win a trip to the Justine offices in Memphis, Tennessee, for a professional photo shoot, as well as other fun prizes. Her troop and her school library will also receive Justine subscriptions. Submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, January 27, and the finalists and winner will be selected in February. For more information and contest rules, check out www.justinemagazine.com.
