Girl scouts a finalist in bcbsnc step it up contest
RALEIGH, N.C. – Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines is a finalist in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina’s Step It Up contest. The council’s Make Every Dance Step Count idea was selected to be featured on BCBSNC’s Million Step March website and be eligible for a $75,000 grant.
“We are very excited to have been selected as a finalist for the Step It Up contest,” says Rusine Mitchell Sinclair, CEO of Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines. “The $75,000 grant will support Girl Scouts’ Make Every Dance Step Count program across our 41-county jurisdiction.”
Building on our Make Every Step Count program of walking and step-counting, Make Every Dance Step Count is another fun way for girls, volunteers, family and community members to step up their physical activity through dance. Girl Scouts will explore the world of dance by discovering dance styles, the culture behind dances, and dancing’s health benefits. Beginning this fall, girls will embark on a year-long series of dance-a-thons, lessons and other group activities guaranteed to get their groove on – and get fit along the way.
