Dove Honors uniquely ME! Program with Donations to Girl Scouts of the USA
Raleigh, NC – Since 2002, Unilever and Dove have supported uniquely ME!: The Girl Scout/Dove Self-Esteem program. The goal of uniquely ME! is to build positive self-esteem in girls ages 8-17 through council funded programs, national events, print and online resources. Over 500,000 girls have participated in uniquely ME! activities to date.
This Fall, The Dove® Self-Esteem Fund is partnering with three organizations, to include Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), to help raise self-esteem of girls across the country as part of its “Thank You For Making a Difference” campaign launching this October. The campaign is designed to demonstrate the impact of Dove Self-Esteem Fund workshops and let consumers know that purchasing Dove products helps build girls’ self-esteem.
Although no purchase is necessary to participate, the campaign invites people to enter their Dove UPC code at www.Dove.com and have $1.00 donated to self-esteem programs at one of the three partner organizations. Even if you do not have a UPC code, click on the button that says “ENTER UPC HERE”. You will be redirected to another page that will let you allocate your $1.00 through a tab that says “I don’t have a UPC.”
All donations directed to GSUSA will go toward funding additional uniquely ME! programs at Girl Scout councils throughout the United States. Consumers have until December 15, 2009 to donate.
The core uniquely ME! program curriculum, which integrates the latest research from the Girl Scout Research Institute, consists of activity booklets in English and Spanish that guide girls through simple exercises that help them understand and build self-esteem.
GSUSA and the uniquely ME! program is featured on www.Dove.com where Dove will be highlighting the program and celebrating individuals who are involved and making a difference for girls. Volunteers and Girl Scout councils also have the opportunity to upload short videos of girls sharing their own inspirational message of real beauty through digital and social media channels.
