Girl Scout Cookies Booths are open

Your favorite seasonal treats are finally here! Local Girl Scouts are delivering their much-awaited cookies throughout the 41-county area of Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines.

The initial ordering period is over, but Girl Scouts are selling cookies at cookie booths around the area until March 11. Click here to find a cookie booth near you

In 2011, Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines troops earned more than $1.6 million in proceeds. That's an average of just over $1,000 per troop! Girl Scouts in central and eastern North Carolina hope to sell nearly 3 million boxes of cookies this year, and the girls need your help to achieve that goal!

New this year -- when purchasing Girl Scout cookies through cookie booths, many customers will be able to use their credit card to buy cookies. Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines has partnered with Sage Mobile Payment to create merchant accounts for each Girl Scout troop that participates in the new program.

Back by popular demand is the BUY 5 promotion. Customers who purchase five or more boxes of Girl Scout cookies in a single purchase can enter their name in a drawing to win a year's supply of free Girl Scout cookies from Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines! Six winners will be selected and will be announced
in April 2012.

For the eighth consecutive year, Girl Scouts are participating in Operation Cookie Drop. Customers who don’t wish to purchase cookies for their own consumption can make donations at any cookie booth location. Those donations will be used to purchase cookies to ship overseas to military personnel serving from Camp Lejeune, Fort Bragg, and Seymour Johnson AFB.

In addition, Operation Cookie Drop deliveries will be made to the USOs in
Jacksonville and Raleigh and to the North Carolina branch of Give2TheTroops based in Greenville, N.C. Since the program first started, customer donations have purchased more than 415,000 boxes of cookies for men and women in uniform serving overseas.

Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines offers eight cookie varieties for the 2012 Cookie Sale Program: Thin Mints, Caramel deLites®, Peanut Butter Patties®, Shortbread, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Thanks-A-Lot™, Lemonades™, and Shout Outs!™ (which is this year's new cookie). The price per box is $3.50, and all of the proceeds generated from the cookie sale program stay within the girls' local area and the 41-county council jurisdiction.

For nearly 100 years, the Girl Scout Cookie Program has helped girls develop skills they will use throughout their lives. Through this annual activity, Girl Scouts ages 5-17 learn time and money management, how to set and achieve goals, the value of teamwork, how to build communication skills and customer service. These skills can even be listed on job and school applications and on resumes.
