Meet Bernadette Spong
NCCP’s new board chair

Bernadette SpongBernadette Spong was elected to a two-year term as chair of our Council board at the recent annual meeting in Goldsboro. She has been on the NCCP board since the merger of the two councils in 2008, serving as treasurer, and she served as a board member and chair of the Finance Committee for Pines of Carolina Board before the merger.

It may have been in her blood because “my Mom was the cookie chair,” she says. Bernadette attended Girl Scout Camp in Florida at Camp Welaka, where she loved to swim in the big lake. One of the lifeguards there was studying to become a priest, and she thought it was “pretty cool” that he went on to become her parish priest.
