NC Big Sweep

Join in as we celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouting and kick off a year of taking action. Our first project: NC Big Sweep on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011. Go to NC Big Sweep's website and click on "Get Involved" to get more information and to register. All participants must sign a waiver form available on the council website. Be on the lookout for more information to come about our "100 Service Projects for the 100th," including information about how to make your pledge to take action, submitting your own service project idea, and tracking your community service hours.

The Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting

PREVIEW copies of The Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting are in our three Council Shops now! Please stop by our Goldsboro, Fayetteville and Raleigh shop
s and sneak a peek! We have one copy of each grade-level handbook. You can learn about new badge requirements, financial awards, safety awards, and other exciting adventures.

As we start the new program year, all earned recognitions (Try-Its, badges and IPs) will be called badges, although Daisies will continue to earn petals.

The five new badge categories are:

  • Legacy (engaging girls in topics relevant since 1912);
  • Financial Literacy (using money wisely);
  • Cookie Business;
  • Skill Building; and
  • Make Your Own (exploring your own personal interests).

Fall Product Sale

Barely a month to go before we begin the annual Fall Product Sale, Investing in Today = Succ
ess for Tomorrow. The sale's financial literacy theme teaches girls that investing in their education today will lead to a successful future tomorrow. Girls can sell magazine subscriptions (new and renewals), as well as nuts and chocolates in order to earn proceeds at the beginning of the Girl Scout year, plus lots of great patches and incentives like Journey books. New this year: achievement medals for top sellers and Treats for Troops -- which can help support our military troops.

Girl Scout Specialty License Plates

Don't be left out: Get your own Girl Scout Specialty License Plate! We must collect the first 300 orders before it can be created. There is a tax-deductible $30 charge above the cost of the regular plate: $10 goes to support the highway beautification program and $20 goes to support Girl Scouting in North Carolina!

All of the details are on our website, and you can complete your order through C.O.R.E. (Council Online Registration Entry). You can also complete the order form (MSWord or PDF) and mail it along with your check to the Raleigh Service Center.

Please note that the picture at right shows a Lions Club specialty plate and that ours will have the Girl Scout logo and the letters "GS" on the right side. This is what we envision; however, the Girl Scout plate won't even be designed until we send the DMV the first 300 paid orders. So, the sooner you order yours, the sooner we can all get them!
