The weather is cooling, but the new Girl Scout year is heating up: Make sure to join the more than 6,000 girls and adult members who have already used our new online membership registration to renew membership or join Girl Scouts. All members should renew their memberships by September 30 in order to stay current in the system and register for council-sponsored events online in the fall. If you have any questions, please contact us.

If you haven’t yet registered for Fall Leaderee, don't let another minute go by. Fall Leaderee will be at Camp Mary Atkinson the weekend of October 1-3, and you can register online. Join fellow volunteers from across our 41-county jurisdiction for a fun weekend of networking, enrichments and the opportunity to learn new activities that you can take back to your troop!

We have some tried and true workshops -- and some exciting new stuff, too! We’ll further explore the idea behind the new Girl Scout brand campaign, "What Did You Do Today?" We’re also asking volunteers to bring canned goods and other items to donate to local communitie ... and continue to role model what we ask our girls to do.

August’s Administrative Team Conference at Campbell University was a great success. Everyone involved deserves a big thank-you for a great day!

And speaking of learning, Volunteer Services is uploading our course offerings to our Council Online Registration Entry (CORE) site, which will make it that much easier and more convenient to complete the required trainings. We’re getting them up there as fast as we can, so check back often to see what’s new.

While you’re exploring our site, be sure to check out the video on our new branding campaign. It’s a fun and interesting presentation. And while you’re there, make sure to watch the video about “What Did You Do Today?” -- the multicultural public awareness and outreach campaign focusing on the incredible opportunities girls can experience as Girl Scouts.

September is a great time to start organizing or re-organizing your troop and get a running start on the new Girl Scout year that starts October 1.

We’re also looking forward to our 100th anniversary is March 2012. We’re already beginning to plan for it, so let me know if you’d like to help.
