Happy New Year, one and all!
Our Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program starts January 7 -- and we owe a big thank you to everyone who works so hard to make this such a successful program. Our girls are featured in the Girl Scout Cookie promotions in this special 100th year, making this year's cookie sale even more special! For more information, visit the cookie sale program portion of our website.
Anyone wanting to know more about the plans for our 100th anniversary can find lots of really good information on our council website. We need volunteers to help us with all of the upcoming events, so if you have some time to help, let us know!
Because 2012 is such an important year in Girl Scouting, GSUSA is working with U.S. Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Kay Granger (R-TX), and U.S. Sens. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) and Susan Collins (R-ME) to introduce the Girl Scout Centennial Resolution in the House and Senate. The Resolution would commend Girl Scouts for its remarkable national leadership development program; recognize our work on girl issues related to leadership, health, and STEM; and celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts’ leadership and expertise. Take Action Today -- send a message to your Congressional representatives asking them to cosponsor the resolution.
We are also working with Governor Perdue's office to urge her to proclaim 2012 The Year of The Girl. It would be great to get cities and counties to make proclamations as well, so if you would like your troop to ask your own town council or county commission to proclaim 2012 The Year of The Girl, you can find more information, including links to templates and sample letters, in the Advocacy section of our website.
Girl Scout alumnae who want to reconnect can visit our alumnae website to join our Alumnae Association and join the fun! New to our Council alumnae site is a series of video visits with some alums who credit Girl Scouting with helping them become who they are today!
You'll find plenty of opportunities to join us in celebrating our 100th anniversary!
