FAQS
Who can join?
ALL GIRLS, ages 5-17, in grades K-12. We are committed to a membership representing the ethnic, racial, religious, and social diversity of our area and to equal opportunity for all members. A girl can join at any age, at any time of year through a local troop, an interest group, a program offered during the school day, a summer opportunity, or as an individual member. ADULTS, too, are welcome!
What's it like?
It's FUN! Girls, guided by caring, safety-conscious adults, explore the many worlds of Girl Scouting: arts, out of doors, science, drama, health and fitness, career exploration, other cultures, and much more. Through activities, trips, and community service, girls learn values, teamwork, problem solving, and responsibility.
What does it cost?
Costs are low, and financial aid is available. Girls pay annual national membership dues of $12. Troops/groups earn money for activities through dues and the Cookie Sale Program.
What about uniforms?
Girl Scouts are in uniform when they wear a membership pin. Other uniform components are optional and available for purchase at our Council Shops.
What about meetings?
Girls Scouts are flexible. The needs of the group determine meeting plans.
Why Girl Scouting?
Girl Scouting is the largest organization for girls and women. The community recognizes Girl Scouts for providing excellent role models, leadership training, and community service. While girls have fun, they build self-esteem, responsibility, and values.
