Change a life! Be a Girl Scout Volunteer!
You can make a difference in the lives of girls by sharing your time and talents through the Girl Scouts.
Volunteer with us!
For nearly 100 years, Girl Scouts has been committed to helping girls learn about themselves and the world around them and fulfilling our mission "to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place." You can be a part of this great organization and help us achieve this mission.
Share your expertise, skills, interests, life experiences, and your time! We need caring adults, who can work collectively with other volunteers and staff to nurture each girl's individuality and leadership qualities.
Today's Girl Scout volunteerism may surprise you. We offer several exciting, flexible pathways through which adults can participate in Girl Scouting. Whether you choose to work directly or indirectly with girls on a short-term or long-term basis, you will get all the instruction, guidance, and support that you will need to fulfill the responsibilities of your volunteer role successfully as you guide girls through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
If you would like to become a Girl Scout volunteer but cannot commit to a regular schedule, you can choose a pathway that allows you to fit Girl Scouting into your lifestyle, whether it is once a month, weekends, evenings, or at a particular time of year.
Support for Volunteers
You are not alone! Girl Scouts offers you support in many ways: local training on many topics, council-wide and local activities and events, this Web site, weekly council-wide email and monthly program support resources. Your Girl Scout volunteer team can also assist you with local activities, Fall Product Sale, the Cookie Sale Program and other general support.
Yes! I Want to Volunteer
So you’ve decided to volunteer – now what?
Volunteer Application
The first step to becoming a Girl Scout volunteer is completing the online volunteer application and background check authorization.
First gather the items you’ll need to complete the application. You will be asked to give three personal references. We will need a way to contact them – email is the fastest – so gather their email (or phone number) before starting the application. We’ll also ask you about your interests and other volunteer experiences. When you're ready, click on the Go Now button to complete the application.

Background Check
Next, we need authorization to complete your background check. All adults who would like to volunteer with Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines in the following positions: board member, troop/group leader/advisor, assistant leader/advisor, service unit manager, administrative volunteers, product sales managers, troop outdoor trained adult, event director, all camp and day camp volunteers, Juliette liaison, overnight chaperon/adult, mentor for Girl Scouts, or any troop/group or other entity sponsored by or affiliated with it must complete a background check in conjunction with the application process. This is a very important part of the process and helps to ensure the safety of our girls and adults.
If you have had a background check performed through Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines within the last 3 years, you do not need to have another one done at this time. Each background check costs the council money, so please help us use our resources wisely.
Before completing the background check authorization, please read the Volunteer Disclosure and Authorization and the Volunteer Policies.
By completing the online form you confirm that you have read the disclosure and authorize IntelliCorp to conduct a background check as described in the disclosure for purposes of determining your volunteer appointment.
Below is the link to IntelliCorp's secure Web site to submit your information. You will need the password provided by your Membership Director or Volunteer Services to enter the site. When you're ready click on the Go Now button below to go to the secure Background Check portal.

Once we receive your application, personal references and background check (usually within 10 days), you will be contacted by a members of our staff or volunteer team. They will help you though the rest of the process.
In the mean time, you can familiarize yourself with the Online Volunteer Orientation. This interactive webinar gives you basic information about Girl Scouts and is the first step in your volunteer learning. Your password to this experience is discover.
You will soon begin your Girl Scout journey and we hope it is rich and fulfilling. As good Girl Scouts, we hope that you will use your resources wisely – check this Web site often for support, ideas and tips, sign up for our weekly newsletter and finally click here to learn about other trainings and resources.
