Collaboration with Outside Community Groups

Council-sponsored program events are designed to provide opportunities for girls to interact with others and experience activities they may not get to try in troops, service units, or on their own. Age-differentiated activities engage girls in Girl Scout's three keys to leadership – Discover, Connect, and Take Action. Based on the Girl Scouting philosophy of leadership, to become leaders girls need to

  • Understand their values, and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world (Discover).
  •  Care about, inspire, and team with others (Connect).
  •  Act to make the world a better place (Take Action).

We welcome collaborations with our local organizations that support our Girl Scout leadership model. We have different options for the type of programs that we offer in collaboration with local organizations. If you have any questions or are interested in starting a new program with Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines, please contact Cindy Kelley-Deaton at cdeaton@nccoastalpines.org or (800) 284-4475.

Program Provider Activity Types

Special Girl Scout Night of Events

This is a program where our collaborator offers a “Girl Scout” sponsored event. This can be a Girl Scout night where Girl Scouts and their families receive an incentive or discount for attending this event.  All of the ticket sales and/or registration for this event is handled by the host site; Girl Scouts – NC Coastal Pines does not collect any money for this type of event. If this is the type of program you would like to offer we can arrange to post information about your event on our website. Ideally, the program provider will send us a PDF flyer of the event. The PDF flyer will be put on the Web Site and it should include how our Girl Scouts order tickets (if needed), where the event will be held, and a contact number for questions.

Girl Scout Clinic, Workshop, or Activity

This is a program where our collaborator offers activities for the girls, such as a clinic, autograph session, or any other hands-on activity. These events are advertised in our yearly activity guide that each troop receives.  In order to be included in our program events guide, you will need to submit your event to a Program Director by April 1, 2011.  The program director will work with you on creating your specific event.  In order to be considered for this type of collaboration, the host organization must be able to accommodate at least 30 girls during their program event. Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines will handle the registration process and will pay the collaborator directly if there is a fee associated with the program.
