GROUP CAMPS
Group Camp registration opens on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 for
Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines Troops/Groups.

Group Camp at Camp Graham is another way to supplement your regular troop/group programming! And it’s a blast! Bring your girls out to spend a week exploring the wilds of Vance County and Kerr Lake while swimming, sailing, and canoeing and enjoying other fun camp activities. These week and half-week sessions are designed for a group of girls and adults to attend resident camp as a unit. How long would your troop or group like to stay at Camp Graham? You decide. Stay for a week-long session, arriving Sunday afternoon and leaving Friday evening. For a mini session, come on Thursday afternoon and stay until Saturday.
At Group Camp, girls camp in groups and attend with their troop/group leader or other adult. Camp Graham provides a "core" staff, including camp director, lifeguards, health supervisor, arts and crafts director, and dining hall staff. Each group has the opportunity to plan some of their own activities and can also participate in some waterfront, sports, crafts, and all-camp sessions led by the camp staff. Meals are prepared for you in the dining hall and training is provided for Group Camp leaders before you go to camp. It really is the best of all worlds – a camping experience away from home, camping with your closest Troop/group buddies, and meeting new girls from other areas at camp. What else could you ask for?!

What are the benefits of Group Camp?
- The camp staff facilitates waterfront programs, some interest activities, and evening programs. You and your girls can plan for the other parts of the day, 3- 3.5 hours a day.
- All the Group Camp units have warm showers, flush toilets, a fire circle, picnic tables, and grills. Practically all the comforts of home!
- Meals are prepared for you. Meals are served in the dining hall.
- One evening your group will prepare and serve a meal in your unit.
- Girls are able to experience camping with a large group of their friends.
- The cost is only $150 per girl for week sessions and $75 per girl for half-week sessions! Cheaper than most resident camps!
- A health supervisor will be at camp to assist with any medical issues.
Cost
The cost of Group Camp is $165 per girl for the week-long session and $85 per girl for a half-week session. The cost includes meals, waterfront program staff, health care, and insurance. A deposit of $35 per camper is REQUIRED with your registration. This deposit is deducted from the camper fee. Groups may charge additional fees for transportation, extra snacks, or other group expenses. Girls may also use their cookie vouchers for the fee. Financial assistance is available and forms will be mailed to Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines group leaders in the spring.
Sleeping Arrangements
- Group Leaders are provided with sleeping accommodations separate from the campers. They are close enough for supervision.
- An extra tent may NOT be pitched on any site without permission from the camp director. A fee will be charged for the people in the tent.
- Extra beds and/or mattresses must not be moved into tents or cabins.
- Every person must have her own bed. Two children may not sleep in the same bed (American Camp Association and Safety-Wise regulations).
Organizing Groups
Bring your troop or a group from your service unit, county, or area. Groups can be as small as six girls and two adults or as large as 36 girls and six adults. Remember, one adult attends FREE with every six paying campers. You can choose from the 6+2 plan or the Unit Group Plan.
- 6+2 Plan – This plan is for small groups. A group of 6 girls and 2 adults may reserve space in Trailblazer or Whippoorwill for $165/$85 per camper and no fee for 1 adult. This plan applies to any multiples of 6 girls and 1 adult. A group reserving less than the entire unit will share the unit with other groups. In this situation, all the adults will share one tent or cabin. Additional adults pay the $165/$85 fee (minimum 2 adults with any size group to follow Safety-Wise ratios).
- Unit Group Plan – A group may reserve a whole unit for the cost listed below. That fee covers all persons in the unit up to the maximum capacity for the unit. Up to 6 adults may attend free in each unit.
