Council staff visit North Carolina’s Congressmen
April 13, 2010
During the recent Congressional recess, NCCP CEO Rusine Mitchell Sinclair and members of the council senior staff met with some of North Carolina’s Congressmen as part of a national effort to strengthen relationships with Members of Congress. The meetings were also used to help educate the Congressmen and their staff members about the movement and that Girl Scouts is the premier leadership experience for girls and a leading expert on their growth and development.
NCCP staff were able to meet with four of the elected officials who represent all or part of our council’s jurisdiction in Washington, including Rep. Bob Etheridge, Rep. Walter Jones, Rep. Brad Miller and Rep. David Price. Council staff also met with Sonja Bloodworth, who is Special Projects Manager for Rep. G.K. Butterfield.
Rep. G.K. Butterfield represents North Carolina’s
1st Congressional District, which includes 8,741 NCCP girls or adult
volunteers in Beaufort, Craven, Edgecombe, Granville, Greene, Halifax,
Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, Northampton, Pitt, Vance, Warren, Wayne,
and Wilson counties.
Rep. Bob Etheridge represents North Carolina’s 2nd Congressional district, which includes 19,740 NCCP girls and adult volunteers in Chatham, Cumberland, Franklin, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Nash, Sampson, Vance, and Wake counties.
Rep. Walter Jones represents North Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes 9,132 NCCP girls and adult volunteers in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Jones, Lenoir, Nash, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Wayne, and Wilson counties.
Rep. David Price represents North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, which includes 14,366 NCCP girls and adult volunteers in Wake, Durham, Orange and Chatham counties.
Rep. Brad Miller represents North Carolina’s 13th
Congressional District, which includes all or parts of Granville,
Person, and Wake counties, among others.
Representatives Howard Coble, Mike McIntyre, and Larry Kissell also
represent part of the council’s jurisdiction.
