Responsibilities: Effectively communicates mission and impact of large Girl Scout council serving 41 central and eastern NC counties to external/internal constituencies. Develops and executes all strategic and tactical communications/marketing plans to increase visibility, membership and support of council. Develops overall key messages to solidify Girl Scouts’ brand and reputation with media and external/internal stakeholders. Serves as designated spokesperson and oversees all media, including crisis, communications. Attends and may represent council and deliver speeches at community and council events. Researches, develops and pitches story ideas for external media. Coordinates and mobilizes volunteer media coordinators throughout 41 counties. Oversees the development and production of all communications materials. Coordinates all communications vehicles (ex: online and print, website, video, broadcast and print media, photography).
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and minimum 2 years applicable experience. Not-for-profit experience preferred. Competency in marketing, public relations, graphic design, web design and management, volunteer relations and management, project management and evaluation, and contract management. Commitment to mission and purpose of Girl Scouting. Demonstrated written and oral (including public speaking) communication skills.
Requirements: Ability to work flexible and varied schedule, including nights and weekends. Travel, throughout but not limited to 41 central and eastern NC counties. Office location: Raleigh Girl Scout Service Center.
Program Director
Seeking professional with experience in developing youth programming (esp. in areas of technology, science or outdoor challenge course), managing grant-funded projects, supporting volunteers, cultivating community partnerships, and implementing events. Bachelor’s degree, excellent communication, strong interest in issues affecting girls, and willingness to work some evenings and weekends required. Competitive salary, excellent benefits provided.
