GSUSA Journey Pilot and Evaluation Project – Troops Needed

Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines has been selected by GSUSA to participate in a pilot and evaluation program from September 2010 to June 2011 regarding Journeys.

Third Journey Series Pilot for Girl Scout Cadettes – It’s Your Story: Tell It!

Girl Scout Cadette troops/groups are being recruited to participate in a pilot for the upcoming release of the It’s Your Story: Tell It! Journey for Girl Scout Cadettes. The theme of the Cadette Journey is Putting the ME in Media. Girls learn how they can shape media- for themselves, their community and the world. This journey series also strongly ties in the themes of holistic health and diversity, with a focus on building self-confidence and self-esteem in girls. Participating troops get advanced copies of the Journey and accompanying adult guide, usage of video-equipment bundles for video streaming (camcorder, laptop, tripod), training, incentives, and the opportunity to help plan an It’s Your Story council event this spring plus great programming for girls.

It’s Your Planet: Love It! Evaluation Pilot for Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors

Girl Scout Brownie and Junior troops have the opportunity to participate in an evaluation project for the It’s Your Planet: Love It! Journey which debuted in fall 2009. We are looking for troops who will utilize the Journey resources and help guide girls through the completion of the Journey during the 2010-11 program year. Troops will participate in online surveys and will videotape some of their troop meeting/activities as they work on their Journey to share with GSUSA for the evaluation project. Participating troops will receive copies of the Journey and accompanying adult guide, usage of camcorder and tripod, training, incentives, and the opportunity to share feedback with GSUSA.

GS-NCCP will be selecting troops to participate in the pilot and evaluation projects. If your troop would like to participate, please submit an application by September 1, 2010. Questions may be directed to Cindy Kelley-Deaton, Program Executive at cdeaton@nccoastalpines.org or 800-284-4475, ext. 3337.
