Girls' World Forum 2012
Part of the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Girl Scouts of the USA
Girl Scouts of the USA and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) will be hosting the 2012 Girls’ World Forum (GWF) to be held in Chicago, IL on July 12-16, 2012.

Deadline to apply: November 22, 2011
Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of District 7710, RYLA is a truly unique leadership conference specifically designed for high school juniors. This district geographically represents the ten north-central counties of North Carolina. Delegates who are chosen to attend this conference are students who have demonstrated leadership potential in scholastic, athletic and civic activities. Those who attend the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Conference will be tomorrowʼs leaders.
Our aim is to demonstrate Rotaryʼs respect and concern for youth; provide an effective training experience for selected youth leaders and potential leaders; encourage leadership of youth by youth; recognize publicly young people who are rendering service to their communities.
To this end, a truly outstanding program has been developed with discussion moderators, professional facilitators and alumni counselors coming from many disciplines. Discussions and experiential sessions focus on what leadership is; qualities of leadership, team-building activities, trust activities, time and stress management. There is also a high and low ropes challenge course and the opportunity to complete a personality profile. Delegates to the conference are selected and sponsored by local Rotary Clubs. There is no cost to the delegates or their family.
Local Rotary clubs interview and select possible delegates. Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is accepting applications to share with local Rotary clubs and must be received by November 22. The Conference runs from 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, through 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012. Students need to understand that they will miss school on Friday April 13. It is held at Camp Kanata in Wake Forest, North Carolina. It is situated on 150 rolling, wooded acres just east of Raleigh. Students are housed at the facility.
Delegates to the Conference are members of a chosen few. They are selected because of their scholastic, athletic and civic achievements as well as their personality and desire to improve themselves. The hope of Rotary is to send them home better equipped to face the world by utilizing those leadership tools they were exposed to during these three days.
