Operation Cookie Drop
Some customers want to help a girl or troop meet their sales goals but do not wish to purchase a box of cookies for themselves. Operation Cookie Drop is the perfect program for these customers! Girls and troops earn the same sales credit and proceeds that they would for selling a box of Thin Mints, and our overseas military personnel love to receive Girl Scout cookies!
Operation Cookie Drop is a program through which customers can make donations which will be used to purchase Girl Scout cookies for our brave military troops serving overseas. In 2011, the Council raised more donations than ever and was able to donate over 100-thousand boxes of cookies. Since the program first started in 2005, more than 415,000 boxes of cookies have been shipped to our military troops.
Customers can give monetary donations to a Girl Scout or Girl Scout troop during the annual cookie sale program. The 2012 sale will start January 7 and end March 11, 2012. At the end of the sale all Operation Cookie Drop donations will be used to purchase Girl Scout cookies which will be sent to military bases in our council — Give2TheTroops organization in Greenville, the USOs in Jacksonville and Raleigh, Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, and Fort Bragg Army Base in Fayetteville. Cookies are then distributed to deployed and returning personnel by the military branches.
Donations to Operation Cookie Drop are tax deductible. Customers may request that the girl or troop provide a receipt for donations up to $250.00. Customers that make a donation in excess of $250.00 should request an official receipt from Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines by sending the name and address of the donor, amount of the donation, and a copy of the check or money order to the Raleigh Service Center. Please write "Operation Cookie Drop" in the memo field and make the check payable to the Girl Scout troop.
Here's What the Soldiers and the Families Have to Say
“I am emailing to thank you all for the cookies we received here in Afghanistan. The Soldiers really enjoyed them. We fail to realize all the things we took for granted back in the states, and yes the Girl Scout cookies were one of those things. We received boxes for a company of 120 soldiers and how we fought over our favorite ones of course. Again, thank you for all of your support and cookies.” – Soldier with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan
“Thank you for sending cookies to the soldiers in Afghanistan!” – Daughter of a soldier
“Thank you for thinking of our soldiers. They are always happy to ‘hear’ from people and the treat of cookies is wonderful!” – Wife of a soldier
