Girl Scouts Embrace the Power of the G.I.R.L.

Every day, girls across central and eastern North Carolina are taking the lead like a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, and Leader)™ when they sign up to be a Girl Scout. Girl Scouts believes in the power of all girls and offers girls a chance to practice a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success.

At 2.6 million strong, Girl Scouts is the largest girl-led organization in the world that provides one-of-a-kind proven leadership development programming that pairs girls with strong, caring role models and mentors who prepare them to take the lead like G.I.R.L. When a girl becomes a Girl Scout, she will try new things, develop a range of skills, take on leadership roles, and feel comfortable failing and trying again. Girl Scouts offers an inclusive, single-gender environment in a safe space which girls are free to explore their potential and take the lead without the distractions or pressures that can be found in a coed environment.

As a G.I.R.L., girls challenge themselves by diving into new adventures like camping and kayaking, break the mold by discovering in their interests in STEM, develop essential business skills while selling Girl Scout Cookies through the largest girl-led business, and lead the way for other girls by making a demonstrable difference in the world through community service projects.

Girl Scouts helps girls activate their inner G.I.R.L. by putting the power in their hands, providing them with unique opportunities to lead their own experiences alongside the guidance of supportive volunteers and staff. Since the first Girl Scout troop was formed more than 100 years ago, being a Girl Scout has been a transformative experience by offering girls program and activities to explore new topics and interests in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), entrepreneurship, life skills, and the outdoors. To this day, more than 59 million girls have participated in Girl Scouts and programming is always evolving.

And every day, Girl Scouts are unleashing the power of the G.I.R.L. to do amazing things!
