Exciting Changes Coming to Girl Scouts!

30 Jul 2014

Changes Are Coming!

Exciting changes lie ahead for the new Girl Scout year; changes that are expanding our capacity to support our girls and families; changes that will help provide volunteers the information and resources they need - when and how they need it; and changes that will help us bring the Girl Scout experience to more girls!

Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines is one of nine councils across the country that will launch Girl Scout’s new Member Engagement Initiative this year.  This exciting initiative consists of four all-new, online tools—membership registration system, website with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) shared content, Volunteer Toolkit, and Digital Cookie.

Here’s a little more about each new tool:

Website

Our new website will launch with a fresh new look, consistent with the Girl Scout brand and align with other councils across the county. The new www.nccoastalpines.org will feature up-to-date information about Girl Scouts provided by GSUSA, in addition to what you need to know about Girl Scouting in central and eastern NC.  Important council resources will still be there, right at your fingertips, whether on your computer, tablet, or smartphone! And we can’t wait for you to explore the new, user-friendly Calendar of Events.

Volunteer Toolkit

And for our fabulous volunteer leaders, a new online toolkit will be available on your smartphone, tablet or computer through our new website.  Leaders will be able to plan and manage troop activities for the year, and have access to important resources to deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

NOTE: The online volunteer toolkit will launch in phases.  For 2014-15, the Volunteer Toolkit will feature resource guides for K-5 troop leaders. GSUSA plans to expand the toolkit to include additional resources with future versions.

Digital Cookie 1.0

For the 2015 Cookie Sale, all Girl Scouts will be able sell cookies online in addition to neighborhood and booth sales!  With parent approval, girls will have fun using technology to increase their sales, while building the five skills by participating in the Cookie Sale: goal-setting, decision-making, business ethics, money management, and people skills.  How cool is that?!

Membership Registration System

From joining and getting oriented, to managing a troop and girl membership – our online experience will be easier, more manageable and more enjoyable. And that’s just the start!

Get Ready for Launch!

The new website, K-5 Volunteer Toolkit and membership registration will be available in August.

A few VIPs – “very important posts”

1)    C.O.R.E. (Council Online Registration System) will remain the place for program and activity registration and payment during 2014-15. Please retain your C.O.R.E. login and password.

2)    New members will register through our new online system, but will still create an account in C.O.R.E. to take advantage of all the fun events and programs planned for this year.

3)    For current members, please note that C.O.R.E. will be inaccessible for a brief period prior to launch.  We apologize for this inconvenience and encourage you to re-register for the 2014-15 membership now.

4)    All registered members will receive a new login and temporary password once the new system launched. You will need these to access your family / troop account information. Where applicable, you will also be able to access the Volunteer Toolkit. Our website will continue to house important members-only information and resources for all troop leaders and volunteers.

As we move forward, we’ll keep you posted.  We can’t wait for our new system to go live and improve our online experience for our members.  And most of all, we can’t wait to get to kick off the new Girl Scout year!
