The Council Realignment Committee of Girl Scout Council of Coastal Carolina and Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council are pleased to announce Rusine Mitchell-Sinclair as the first CEO of the new Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines. Ignited by her childhood experience as a Girl Scout in a small town in the Midwest and nurtured through her adult volunteer roles as troop co-chair, group camp leader, cookie booth sales, mother of a Gold Award recipient and mentor to others, as well as her Board and Executive Committee service, Rusine Mitchell-Sinclair demonstrates a passion for the Girl Scout mission of girls’ personal and leadership development.
As an employee of IBM for over 25 years and an officer of the corporation for the last 8 years, she has leadership and managerial experience of a caliber rarely available in the non-profit world. Her career with IBM included varied and broad business skills exposure and practice. She has extensive managerial, financial, marketing, public relations, human resources and government and community relations experience. She has been responsible for creating and implementing several new lines of business for IBM and developed strategies for market growth and client satisfaction of their core business. Her tenure as VP, Strategy & Implementation, IBM Global Services has given her opportunities to demonstrate leadership of a globally diverse work force. As NC Senior State Executive she represented IBM across the state to elected officials, business leaders and the community.
Rusine has been “merged”. She knows firsthand the stresses and opportunities that come with blending organizations. Her early work experience in Singapore and Dubai UAE demonstrates that valuing and adapting to diverse cultures and people is natural to her. Her global responsibilities included IBM’s units in Europe, Latin America and Asia.
Sought after to provide community leadership, Rusine has served Boards of Directors for non-profits and foundations ranging from Wake Educational Partnership to the NC Technology Association (NCTA), WakeMed Foundation, UNC Parents’ Council and the NC Special Transit Advisory Committee (STAC). She chaired the 2006 Triangle American Heart Association HeartWalk, the IBM Employee Charitable Campaign and Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council’s Family Campaign; and served on Pines’ Board and Executive committee.
Her business awards include ROLM Sales Clubs, IBM Golden Circle and 100% Clubs. She has been recognized as an Outstanding Woman in Business by the Triangle Business Journal, a Woman Extraordinaire by the Business Leader and received a Certificate of Appreciation from the State of North Carolina.
Rusine has a clear and compelling vision for the expansion and transformation of Girl Scouts and is eager to lead and work with the staff and volunteers of the new Girl Scouts- NC Coastal Pines to create and share that vision. She begins her duties August 1, 2007.
